Prepare to be a Maryland certified stationary engineer at AACC. If you have experience in facilities maintenance, HVAC systems or boiler maintenance and would like to prepare for the Maryland Board of Stationary Engineers licensing exam, then you will want to consider this important exam preparation training from AACC. Stationary engineers and boiler operators control and maintain ventilation and air systems, including boilers, chillers, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, condensers and compressors. The Maryland Board of Stationary Engineers requires all people providing stationary engineer services in Maryland to be licensed. AACC has two certificate options to prepare you for the Maryland Board of Stationary Engineers licensing exam.
OCA-310 MD Stationary Engineer’s Cert Prep 1 Range 3
This program provides instruction on low pressure boilers, plant equipment and operations. Topics include basic boiler construction, boiler care and operation, water chemistry and treatment, hydronic heating systems, basic electrical, refrigeration and HVAC systems, fire prevention and safety and ASME code requirements.
Note: Prepares students for the Maryland Stationary Engineers certification examination (grades 4 and 5) and the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) certification examination (grade 5).

OCA-311 MD Stationary Engineer’s Cert Prep 2 Range 4
This program provides advanced instruction on high pressure boilers, plant operations and equipment for stationary engineer professionals, with a current Grade 4 and/or 5 license. Topics include all aspects of steam boiler operations and accessories, combustion and computer-assisted combustion controls, water chemistry and treatment, basic electrical, refrigeration and HVAC systems and fire prevention and safety.
Note: Prepares students for the Maryland Stationary Engineers certification examination (grades 1-3) and the NIULPE certification examination (grades 1-4).
Total Hours: 36
Upon successful completion, students will earn an AACC continuing education certificate and will be prepared to take the Maryland Board of Stationary Engineers licensing exam. To receive the certificate, submit a Student Application for Continuing Education Certificate to the Continuing Professional Education office.
The cost per course for Anne Arundel County residents is $425, including tuition and fees. Use certificate code CE.ST.-ENGR-PREP.
